A useful CSV cleaner must understand more than one perfect comma-separated file. Exports can use commas, semicolons or tabs; character encodings vary; headings are inconsistent; and an email may appear in more than one column.
Prepare the file
- Keep a header row with clear column names.
- Include the record identifier you will need when results return.
- Export one record per row.
- Do not delete supporting columns simply to make the file easier for a verifier.
Select the column explicitly
ListCleaner previews the data and lets you click the column containing the addresses to clean. This is safer than relying exclusively on a heading such as “email,” especially when a dataset contains personal, work and billing addresses.
Download the right result
Use the complete result for auditing and CRM updates, the deliverable subset for an immediate working list, and the bad-address export for suppression or data-quality remediation. Preserve the original file until the results have been reviewed.
